“Passion is a driving force that enables people to overcome difficulties. This is emotion which helps to create, develop and express our feelings and ideas”.
“While Passion Sleeps”- in this work I wanted to illustrate the life of the person whose passion is sleeping, who is imprisoned and how this situation influences the whole body and life.
The butterflies symbolises the soul-passion-the energy, power, determination, potential, enthusiasm. The thorn tree illustrate dying body: the thorns mean suffering, apathy, depression, sorrow, lack of invention, tiredness, boredom, and trap of despair. The passion (the buterflies) is imprison and the whole body(the tree) is dying- which is illustrated by dead leaves and pieces of bark( single letters).
TOGETHER- THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN A COUPLE.
The central idea in my project was to explore visual symbolism and metaphors to evoke memories, feelings and experiences that I have had and want my audience to experience and then recall their own such memories or experiences through the images of trees.
For me the tree is not simply a structure e.g. roots/branches/leaves, it is the symbol of constant transformation, the symbol of strenght, power, stability, and at the same time the example of weakness, dependence of the environment, example of humility and harmony. I see within the trees a personification of self and others. In my work I wanted to test how I can use the symbolism of the tree to express narrative and emotions such as strenght, crying, weaknes, vulnerability, death, dying, joy, wholeness, commitment, dependence, fulfilment.
the Final outcome has been cut from MdF wood using jigsaw and lasercut and is about different moments in the relationship between the couple shown through the personification of the image of the tree.
