As the Old Testament says, “There is nothing new under the sun.” So many areas of modern art are inspired by history, past, and experience of other centuries. Photo artist Mariska Karto is a fan of the Renaissance. Therefore, in her works she recreates the sensual female images of those times.

Marishka was born in South America, in 1971, but a few years later she moved to Holland with her family, where she still lives. For some time she worked as a textile artist, but in 2010 she decided to devote herself to art and took up photography. According to her, only in this way can she express her inner world and her personal feelings and thoughts.

The inspiration of the artist draws from paintings such giants of painting as Rembrandt, Rubens, Jan van Eyck and Caravaggio.

The photos that Marishka Karta makes are distinguished by a palette of soft light pastel shades, as well as a stylized vintage art painted on canvases. Her works have a fantastic historical atmosphere. Photo artist often resorts to symbolism for greater expressiveness.
