Taymour Grahne Projects is a London-based contemporary art gallery providing a space to discover emerging, mid-career, and historically overlooked artists.
Founded by gallerist Taymour Grahne in 2020, the space is also a place for art world talks and conversations, screenings, and art book signings.
Taymour Grahne Projects is delighted to announce the opening of its second London gallery in May 2021. Located in the heart of West London’s Notting Hill neighbourhood, the new space celebrates the growth of the gallery – having opened its first London space in September 2020 – as well as the launch of a brand new ‘collaborative artist roster’. Both galleries are devoted to exhibiting emerging, mid-career, and historically overlooked artists from across the globe.
Spanning across two floors and over 80 square meters, Taymour Grahne Projects’ new space is a 15-minute walk from its current London gallery in Holland Park. By opening spaces outside of London’s traditional art centres, Taymour Grahne Projects endeavours to bring art to new areas and new audiences, enabling the gallery to become part of the public’s day to day activities and not simply a destination venue. This approach is a continuation of Grahne’s former work in New York, where he was one of the first gallerists to open a space in Tribeca – now a burgeoning hub for contemporary art in the city.
The new Notting Hill space will be inaugurated with a solo exhibition by London-based artist Evie O’Connor, entitled What Will Become of Us? Opening on May 15, Evie O’Connor’s paintings examine, critique and ponder the confusing climate we find ourselves in. Her work asks personal and uncomfortable questions about the breeding ground of excess, that we all play a part in creating. It invites conversation surrounding class, which for her is necessary and long overdue, and dissects the often-empty aspiration of the scenes she envisions.
Continually featuring new international artists within its online and physical exhibition programme, Taymour Grahne Projects is also proud to launch its ‘collaborative artist roster’. Echoing the recent spirit of collaboration seen to emerge during the global pandemic, the term ‘collaborative artist roster’ renews the language around artist “representation”, emphasising the symbiotic nature of this relationship. This ‘collaborative artist roster’ includes: Mikey Yates, Cara Nahaul, Amy Lincoln, James Bartolacci, Hilary Doyle, Matthew F Fisher, Nadia Ayari, and Nicky Nodjoumi, and will continue to grow in time.
By reviving the language around a gallery’s relationship to its artists, challenging traditional gallery models, and seeking new locations, Taymour Grahne Projects ushers in a new way of working – one that is fluid, intuitive, and ultimately supportive of artist growth.
