Unusual Diorama Books by Yusuke Oono

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then what about Yusuke Oono’s small but voluminous brochures? Japanese artist and architect Yusuke Ono created a series of 360-degree illustrated diorama books using a laser cutter.

This photo selection of the most wonderful books from the artist and architect Yusuke Oono will impress even the most callous person who is indifferent to books and their pages. The paintings can be viewed in the usual way – page by page or fanned out. It’s not only the artist’s talent but also his ability to think creatively, the idea itself, its unsurpassed perfection. The book turns into some kind of mystical fairy tale, wandering through our minds and evoking a lot of emotions, sensations, and impressions! Admire, it is very beautiful!

Earth and Moon

A small book that easily fits in the palm of your hand unfolds into a sculptural sphere consisting of thin pages. Turning of each page, a new volumetric scene appears in front of the viewer-reader, in which there are clouds, stars, a spaceship, a satellite, a UFO. The 3D book is fascinating and amazing. From it, the reader receives illustrated and textual information about the Earth the solar system.

The illustrator was trained as an architect at the University of Tokyo. But he applies design skills and knowledge of materials in an innovative area – the creation of sculpture books A beautifully packaged miniature product measuring 90×90 mm may well function in its traditional incarnation – serving for reading. At the same time, an aesthetic art object can also become an original decorative element in the interior of a study or home library.

Talking about the book, the artist says that he likes to experiment, in particular, to look for new forms and ways of working with space and dimension. Yusuke Oono is sure that not only children, but also adults will like playing with such a book, because fairy tales have no age, especially when they are designed in this way, and attract readers not only in content but also in form.
