Pandas, horses, cows and plenty of birds are recreated as amazing paper sculptures by the hands of Sydney-based artist Anna-Wili Highfield. The daughter of a puppeteer, Anna spent her childhood exposed to people making amazing creations. She now translates what she saw into her own incredible sculptures, using archival cotton paper, cotton thread, brass rods, watercolors and ink. Her countless hours of creative handiwork give way to ephemeral animals with just a slight rough edge.

The biodegradable paper animals are created from archival cotton paper that is painted by hand and then sewn together to create the animal’s shape. Some figures use recyclable copper pipes to give them a sturdy frame, or in the case of birds, to give them movable wings.
