The Japanese artist Ray Morimura (1948) is an adherent of strict geometry – his works are distinguished by precise, mathematically verified lines, from which a cloth of drawings is woven. Ray’s engravings are mostly landscapes. These are not sketches from nature, Ray does not want to reproduce the exact landscape, he is interested in the image, shape, color, texture.
Ray Morimura graduated from Tokyo Gakugei University and teaches traditional Japanese woodcuts at Tokyo Zokei University. The truth itself, unlike most artists who use mascara, – works with oil paints.
