Relief Paintings Gregory Euclid: a Modern Landscape – What is it?

That the rivers are coming out of the shores is what we have heard. But that the pictures went beyond – it’s something new! The landscape created by the artist Gregory Euclide, proves that it is possible. Although the name of this work of art “landscape” in the traditional sense of the word language somehow does not turn. Why – see for yourself.

The modern landscape is forced to survive in the era of digital photography. Accurate reproduction of nature, even at its finest moments, you will not surprise anyone. In this sense, some modern aesthetic esthetes reject the modern landscape. For them, he who paints landscapes is not an artist, but a photographer (and that is not the best, because inaccurate!). In order not to turn into another ordinary “photographer”, Gregory Euclid presents his special vision of the modern landscape. His last creation, “Held Within What Hung Open and Made to Lie Without Escape”, which was included in the author’s exposition “Otherworld”, can now be seen in the New York Museum of Art and Design.

American artist Gregory Euclide we already know by how much his vision of landscape art is original. His work is amazing: from the most diverse materials he creates paintings that are also three-dimensional sculptures.

And in a new work of art from Gregory Euclid has something to be surprised. This is not just a landscape, but an installation of unprecedented dimensions. Gregory himself calls his works “diorama-like”, that is, a semblance of a diorama. The landscape depicted in the picture is quite traditional. The river, placed in the center, visually divides the picture into two parts – a technique customary for landscape painters. But the river Euclid from the world of the painting flows … into our world. The picture as if “opens”, and we see its continuation.

The materials from which this work of art was created are not the usual acrylic paints, foam, used paper, moss, foam, etc., that were at hand.

Brought up by the picturesque landscape of Wisconsin, where the artist spent his childhood, Gregory Euclid in his works conveys the sadness that every city resident has. This anguish is caused by the inability to perceive nature, when you exist in a culture that is so far removed from it. Therefore, the work of landscape art, which we saw, is another attempt by Gregory Euclid to create a world of nature, in a sense, become a beyond.
