Only one detail can fundamentally transform the interior, and Chinese architects know about it. “Zhongshuge” Bookstores were transformed by the mirror ceilings. Stairways and shelves are displayed in them, creating a feeling of another reality. Ordinary bookstores have turned into fabulous enchanted mazes in the Escher style, from which you do not want to leave.

Look at the stunning bookstore designs created by Shanghai’s architects.

The Zhongshuge Bookstores ordered the interior design of its branches from the Shanghai X+Living architectural firm and did not miss it: the result was amazing.

Amazing combinations of illusion and reality amaze even the most sophisticated art and reading enthusiasts. Each branch of the Chinese book network has a uniquely organized space with mirrored ceilings displaying visitors, books on shelves, and stairs. It seems that all this happens not in the store, but in a drawing by Maurice Escher.

In Yangzhou offices, the mirrors are placed not only on the ceilings but also on the floor. These decorative elements create mirages – displays of city channels, rivers, and lakes.

Artful design can turn even the most ordinary room into a real masterpiece. Bookstores have become a world of illusion and reality thanks to the mirror elements.

You don’t want to leave such labyrinthine stores and you just want to enjoy the fabulous atmosphere while reading your favorite book.
