New Architectural Sculptures by David Moreno Appear As Three Dimensional Drawings

Spanish sculptor David Moreno continues to blur the lines between two and three dimensions with his architectural artworks. Created using hundreds of steel rods and lengths of piano wire, Moreno’s sculptures take the shape of buildings, and his more recent works have ventured indoors, highlighting interior details like doorways and staircases. In 2017, the artist also created a large, immersive installation in the United Arab Emirates titled “Connecting Doors.”

David Moreno is a Spanish sculptor who was born in 1978. He is known for his imaginary architectural situations.

Sculptor David Moreno created these intricate sculptures using nothing more than thin wooden sticks. The complex staircases span multiple flights around several corners, and connect two imposing arched doorways. The wall-mounted sculptures also cast shadows which are just as remarkable as the works themselves.

While David Moreno’s Stair sculptures have a distinctively grandiose, medieval aesthetic, his other works tend to represent much more ramshackle structures such as primitive huts and floating cities on stilts. These chaotic sculptures are best viewed from a distance where the overall composition can be better taken in.
The David Moreno that teamed with architect Miguel Arraiz is a different sculptor.
