Jake Gyllenhaal will play the deceitful writer

Jake Gyllenhaal will star in the series based on an article by American journalist Ian Parker about the writer Dan Mallory, who built his career on endless lies. Parker’s story, A Suspense Novelist’s Trail of Deceptions, was published in The New Yorker in 2019.

In his text, the journalist spoke about the life of Mallory, better known by the pseudonym A. J. Finn, whose debut psychological thriller The Woman in the Window became the main bestseller, according to the New York Times. However, Mallory quickly fell into disrepute for his lies. The series will be directed and written by Janicza Michelle Bravo, who recently directed the mini-series, Mrs. America.
