Basel Week HK ’18 / Showing: Art Basel

Today, the 29th of March, the Convention & Exhibition Centre will be once again opening its doors for the annual edition of Art Basel Hong Kong. We’ve in the city for few days already and had the chance to look at the both floors of the fair during the private viewing days and capture a glimpse of the glamour, beauty and madness that is taking place.

Featuring 248 premiere galleries from 32 countries, half of them having exhibition spaces in Asia and the Asia-Pacific, Art Basel is once again showing its commitment to showcasing what is happening in this region. Presenting an in-depth overview of the diversity through both historical material and cutting-edge works by established and emerging artists, the fair has attracted 1000s of high end collectors from around the globe. With numerous artists and influential people from the art world in attendance, Art Basel is once again reinforcing its reputation as a leading art event worldwide.

With 28 galleries participating in the Hong Kong show for the first time, including galleries from the United State and Europe, there is a strong focus on keeping an eye on the pulse of what’s fresh and new in the art world. This is especially evident at the “Discoveries” section of the fair, a powerful platform for emerging contemporary artists, as well as a younger generation of galleries.

From KAWS’ new bronze release with Pace Prints and the debut fair showcase with Skarstedt, to a great overview of their art family from the Nanzuka and KaiKai Kiki galleries from Tokyo, to Mark Ryden’s impressive showcase with Paul Kasmin, we’re bringing you the overview of our first day at Art Basel Hong Kong 2018.
