David Hockney showed portraits of close friends at his new exhibition

The National Portrait Gallery in London presented a large-scale retrospective exhibition of British artist David Hockney. The famous author prepared a surprise for the guests of his exhibition. There he presented three portraits of his closest friends – textile designer Selia Birtwell, curator Gregory Evans, and painter Maurice Payne.

The exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery explores graphic works by Hockney, created by the artist from the 1950s to the present day. Inspired by the upcoming exhibition, the artist asked his friends to pose again. In total, he dedicated ten graphic portraits to them, which he presented at the exhibition.

All in the exposition included 150 works of the artist, including personal portraits of Hockney, sketches with his family and relatives. Although Hockney was famous for his non-standard approach to painting, creating paintings with the help of new gadgets, he was always considered a great painter. In 50 years he has changed many styles of graphics, exploring this art direction. The Hockney exhibition will last until June 28.
