Edouard Manet is one of the most famous French artists of the 19th century and a key figure in the history of art, which facilitated the transition from realism to impressionism.
Manet was famous for its ability to simplify details and use brush strokes freely. Most of his artworks were devoted to café scenes and depicted the lifestyle of upper classes of society. Many of the artist’s works revolved around images of leisure time, including observing social life in all classes, from bourgeois races to drunken prostitutes, Parisian streets and boat scenes. January 23 marks the 188th birthday of the artist, in honor of which vogue.ua recalls 10 of his masterpieces.
