Auction House Hermitage Fine Art Announces its Auction at the Hotel Metropole

On 15, 16 and 17 March 2018, the auction house Hermitage Fine Art will present the art of Russia, Eastern Europe and the Caucasus at Hotel Metropol in Monte Carlo. Private view for connoisseurs of art and collectors will open on March 15 at 18.00.

Hermitage Fine Art – auction house, founded in 2017 in Monaco, therepresentation of the most diverse sections and directions of Russian history and art is a characteristic feature of the house. It was founded by a group of specialists from Europe and Russia, united by a love of Russian culture and history, the desire to preserve and popularise Russian cultural heritage abroad.

The auction house in Monaco examines and evaluates any works related to different areas of Russian art: painting and graphics, decorative arts, watches, jewellery and silver works, photographs, historical souvenirs of the imperial family, books, autographs and manuscripts, geographical maps and numismatics. Thanks to cooperation with a wide range of specialists, Hermitage Fine Art organises expertise in Monaco, the Cote d’Azur, Paris, London, Moscow, St. Petersburg and many other places in Europe.

Specialists of Hermitage Fine Art carry out a full support of auction trades. We are also ready to assist in the provision of logistics and transportation of art objects.

This Hermitage Fine Art auction is dedicated to the outstanding ballet master, choreographer, collector and bibliophile Sergey Mikhailovich Lifar (1905-1986).

Serge Lifar is an artist of the Russian Seasons by Sergei Diaghilev, choreographer of the Grand Opera in Paris, founder of the Paris University of Choreography and the University of Dance. His creative legacy is enormous: more than 200 ballets, 25 books on theory and history of dance, organisation of the famous Pushkin Exhibition in 1937. He was an ardent collector and owner of the personal archive of Sergei Diaghilev, “Pushkin’s” with the original letters of the poet to Natalia Goncharova. Serge Lifar collected one of the most interesting Russian libraries in Europe, consisting of books from the 16th to 19th centuries.

Works from his priceless collection will be presented at the auction in Monaco.
