Boston Lends Impressionist Masterpieces to Houston for “Incomparable Impressionism from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston

The MFA Boston has provided the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, with a selection of premieres from its largest collection of Impressionist paintings for the Texas Museum of Fine Arts exhibition. It opened on November 14. Highlights of the exhibition include paintings by Claude Monet, Mary Cassatt, Edgar Degas, Edouard Manet, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Pierre-Auguste Renoir.

Critics have accused MFA Boston of not leasing these works, but rather renting them, as the museum expected to receive some of the profits from the sale. Although MFA Boston is one of the few museums in the United States that is fully funded by private sources, this institution does receive tax incentives.
