AFA will personally host its annual Gala and Cultural Leadership Awards this year. Join the event at the stately Metropolitan Club in New York to celebrate the important work of AFA and honor the Romare Bearden Foundation for their significant contributions to the arts by advancing scientific research related to the life and work of the artist Romare Bearden.

Audience support allows continuing to create meaningful connections between art and audience.

The AFA Cultural Leadership Awards are presented annually not only to artists but to museum directors, cultural institutions, or philanthropists in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the artistic community. The significant event brings together artists, museum directors, collectors, philanthropists, and art professionals in an elegant gala for the American Federation of the Arts and outstanding artists.

Past recipients have included:

AFA staff continues to monitor the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and will follow all state and local guidelines regarding masks, vaccinations, and social distancing.

The Leadership for the Americas Awards Gala honors individuals and organizations committed to advancing democratic governance, social justice, and prosperity.

The American Federation of Arts is a US non-profit organization that organizes art exhibitions in various museums around the world, publishes exhibition catalogs, and develops educational programs. AFA was founded on May 12, 1909.

The American Federation of Arts has now organized about 3000 exhibitions, which have been attended by over 10 million people in the USA, Canada, Latin America, Europe, Asia, and Africa.

The Federation has established an annual Cultural Leadership Award, which recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to the promotion of arts and museums in the country and the world.

At various times, the laureates of the award were – artist Sara Ze (2012), Yugoslavian master of performance Marina Abramovich (2011), director of the Philadelphia Museum of Art Anna D’Arnoncourt (2002), and others.
