Hauser and Wirth Announces Its New Paris Gallery’s Inaugural Show and Its Debut Director

Mega-gallery Hauser and Wirth has unveiled details about its new Paris location opening this fall in a neoclassical .

Opening on October 14, just in time for the Paris+ fair, the gallery’s first show will feature new work by the highly sought-after L.A.-based artist Henry Taylor, coinciding with a career survey of the artist’s work at the Whitney Museum in New York (October 4, 2023 through January 2024). Taylor will spend June and July working in Paris on a residency.

The Paris gallery is situated in a townhouse that dates from 1877, at 26 bis rue François 1er, on the right bank of the Seine and near the Champs-Élysées.

The gallery also announced that Séverine Waelchli, a veteran dealer who has worked at Sprüth Magers, Yvon Lambert, and, most recently, Thaddaeus Ropac, will oversee its new Paris space, as well as its gallery in Monaco, which opened in 2021. Waelchli has live in Paris since 2005.

The gallery will establish “meaningful local partnerships to create an inclusive learning program as an integral part of the presence in Paris,” it said in a statement.
