Hermitage Fine Art Auction House: TOP-5 lots in Russian, Caucasian and Eastern European Art Sale

On Friday, March 23, Hermitage Fine Art presented over 550 lots of Russian, Caucasian and Eastern European art. Total sale achieved 538 784,80 € including Buyer’s Premium.

The auction was dedicated to the outstanding ballet master, choreographer, collector and bibliophile Sergey Mikhailovich Lifar (1905-1986). In addition to the selection of books and autographs from the collection of Lifar, Hermitage Fine Art exhibited more than 400 works of art from various thematic sections. Objects included Russian painting and graphics, a collection of Azerbaijani artists,the poetry of the Silver Age, Russian literature abroad, items of Russian military history, as well as furniture, silver, porcelain, photography and numismatics.

The most coveted lot at Hermitage Fine Art auction was a unique manuscript collection of poems by Konstantin Balmont with the personal bookplate of Sergei Lifar, (lot 202). It was sold for 107 950 Euros.

Empreror Nicolas I, Empress Alexandra Fedorovna and Empress Maria Fedorovna horse sledging in winter. 1829. This painting (lot 135) was sold for 19 050 euros.

LOT 135. SIGMUND FERDINAND von PERGER (1778-1841)

The 3rd place of auction top lots is headed by the first edition of the novel “Feat” – one of the most penetrating, poetic and deeply Russian works of Vladimir Nabokov, released under the pseudonym Sirin V., with the author’s dedicatory inscription to Anna Feigin (lot 356). This lot was sold for 16 510 Euros.

The bronze bust of Leo Tolstoy created by Pavel Petrovich Trubetskoy, dated 1890, (lot 97), was purchased for 15 240 euros.

Lot 97. PAVEL PETROVICH TROUBETSKOY (1866 – 1938)

The archive of the owner of Russian restaurants – cabaret: “Fetish”, “Maskotte” in Constantinople; «Jardin doré» in Constantinople and in Paris (1922-1923) and the Russian Cabaret “Abrek” in Monte Carlo (1928-1930) was sold for 22 225 Euros.
