How do people recreate famous paintings on quarantine

Creating photos based on famous (and not very) works of art is not a new idea. But in recent weeks, which many people around the world spend in quarantine on four walls, the copying of famous paintings has reached a new level and acquired unprecedented proportions.

A few weeks ago, when quarantine was introduced in most European countries, users began publishing photos with hashtag #tussenkunstenquarantaine in social networks (mostly Instagram). Challenge with this name (it translates as “Between Art and Quarantine”) launched the Amsterdam Rakesmuseum, almost immediately picked up by the Getty Museum in Los Angeles. And now in Instagram on this hashtag, you can find a huge number of photos.

And on March 30, the group “Isolation” was created on Facebook. And although this group consists mostly of Russian-speaking users, now it already has more than 200 thousand members, and their number is growing every day. To recreate the famous paintings in limited conditions forced homebodies approach with all possible ingenuity. Especially funny are the characters in Bosch and Bruegel’s paintings. Often copy “Lovers” Magritte, and time and again in the tape – “The Son of Man. Deyneka, Serov, Vrubel… Everyone is being quarantined!
