In Pictures: See the Gucci-Outfitted Stars and Art-World Celebs Who Helped Raise More Than $5 Million at LACMA’s Art + Film Gala

On Saturday night, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art hosted 650 star-studded guests for their 11th annual Art + Film Gala, sponsored by Audi and longtime event partner Gucci.

This year’s event honored South Korean director, screenwriter, and producer Park Chan-wook alongside Pasadena-based Light and Space legend Helen Pashgian. Longtime co-chair and actor Leonardo DiCaprio didn’t make it—for the first time in over a decade—but the other co-chair and museum trustee Eva Chow held down the event fort alongside LACMA’s director Michael Govan.

In total, the gala raised $5.1 million for the museum. That sum will predominantly ensure filmmaking has a central role in LACMA’s curatorial approach, while also supporting other initiatives, like the new David Geffen Galleries, slated to open in 2024 in the Peter Zumthor-designed building. LACMA announced that construction on the controversial project hit the halfway mark in October, and they have surpassed $700 million of their $750 million fundraising goal for it.

Attendees entered the event on a red carpet installed just past Chris Burden’s Urban Light (2008) installation, which has become the unofficial entrance to LACMA’s campus on Wilshire Boulevard, before savoring cocktails al fresco over a DJ set by Derrick “D-Nice” Jones. Then, they moved beneath the Art + Film pavilion for a dinner by chef Mattia Agazzi from Gucci Osteria da Massimo Bottura in Beverly Hills, while tributes to Chan-wook and Pashgiann played out on screen and stage alike.

Idris Elba invited guests back outside after dinner, and Salma Hayek introduced Sir Elton John, who concluded the affair with an intimate set of greatest hits including “Rocket Man,” “Tiny Dancer,” and his notorious tearjerker, “Your Song.”  Vogue wrote that Adrian Brody and Olivia Wilde were front and center for the performance, and Wilde didn’t even pull out her phone because she was so enrapt.

We scoured the party footage to see which art stars showed up—wearing Gucci, or otherwise—to help celebrate. Here are some of our favorite scenes from the night.
