Job opportunity: The Art Newspaper is hiring a Chief Executive Officer

About the role

The Art Newspaper (TAN) is looking for a successful and dynamic CEO/Publisher who will be responsible for growing the business and managing the commercial side of this leading title. They will develop The Art Newspaper’s audiences and revenue streams, building on TAN’s unrivalled reputation and brand profile in the art industry and the wider art world. They will work closely with the Editor and other senior executives, and lead a team of talented individuals, helping them to achieve and exceed their goals in a fast-moving arts and media landscape.

Their primary responsibilities will be to oversee and develop the commercial side of the business, and to create and implement an overarching strategy that will generate new revenue and ensure that The Art Newspaper’s content, across all media, is distributed, promoted, and marketed in the most effective way, locally, nationally, and internationally. They will define the business strategy, determine new opportunities, and drive subscriptions, membership schemes, circulation and advertising plans; as well as developing sales and partnership leads, and marketing and distribution collateral.

The right candidate will be a proven leader in the publishing field, with excellent management skills, superb networks and experience with budgets; someone who knows how to harness the prestige and potential of The Art Newspaper’s multi-media offer. They will be an excellent strategic thinker able to develop and execute plans. They must have the drive and knowledge to grow the business, while maintaining cost control, and be committed to creating a culture where everyone in the business feels supported and motivated.
