Loewe Foundation/Studio Voltaire provides free spaces for artists in central London

Anyone can submit an application

Fashion house Loewe is launching an award for contemporary artists. Studio Voltaire is a two-year program that will provide seven artists with a studio, professional development opportunities and a stipend. This will be followed by a one-year residency at Studio Voltaire in London.

Because of the pandemic, many artists have been forced to give up studios, some giving up art because of falling income and canceled exhibitions. So the Loewe Foundation and the Studio Voltaire Award decided to create a place where artists could work and interact.

According to the Loewe Foundation, the award will give new opportunities to unknown artists. Particular attention will be given to members of marginalized groups in society as well as those who face discrimination.

The goal of the program is to make it easier for emerging artists to access art, as well as to strengthen the equal representation of different classes, races, gender people with disabilities.

Earlier, Jonathan Anderson, Loewe’s creative director and founder of JW Anderson, presented a collaboration with artist Shawanda Corbett. Shawanda is a ceramic artist with a disability who uses her body features to combine craft traditions with performance art techniques.

Anyone can apply. The deadline is April 26, 2021.
