Netflix LGBTQ+ drama Heartstopper goes to the Louvre—or does it?

LGBTQ+ dramas making waves on streaming services are also keen it seems to highlight their arty credentials. In the second season of Heartstopper on Netflix, the ongoing joyous tale of teenage lovers Charlie and Nick, a school group heads off to Paris, sampling the delights of the Louvre. But is it really the famous Parisian museum? Dulwich Picture Gallery in London posted pics of the cast on Instagram milling in the museum, saying: “Was amazing to have… the whole crew in the gallery a few months ago filming some (in our opinion) epic scenes for episode 5”—which just so happens to take place at the Louvre (coincidence or not?).

Meanwhile the comedy Red, White & Royal Blue on Amazon Prime tells the story of a pretty British prince falling in love with the beautiful son of the US President. In the feelgood comedy, closeted Prince Henry romances Alex Claremont-Diaz, taking his handsome Hispanic suitor to the Victoria & Albert Museum in London after hours. Henry and Alex smooch in the Sculpture Galleries cementing their love and troubled relationship amongst works by Michelangelo, Rodin and Bernini. The pair are also seen running through the Medieval & Renaissance Galleries, proving that all young lovers need to mend a broken heart is after hours (privileged) access to a London museum.
