Penske Media Corporation expands digital publishing reach with Vox Media acquisition
Penske Media Corporation announced on June 18, 2026, that it has acquired Vox Media and a slate of its best-known brands, marking one of the most consequential consolidations in digital publishing this year. The deal brings VOX Studios, Eater, The Verge, SB Nation, POPSUGAR, The Dodo, Punch, Thrillist, and VOX Creative under PMC’s umbrella. PMC was already Vox Media’s largest shareholder before the transaction.
To organize the enlarged portfolio, PMC has created a new subsidiary called PMX. The unit will combine the company’s existing publishing holdings — including Billboard, Variety, Rolling Stone, WWD, The Hollywood Reporter, Deadline, Robb Report, Sportico, SHE Media, StyleCaster, Art in America, Artforum, FN, IndieWire, VIBE, Billboard Music Charts, BEAUTYINC, and others — with the newly acquired Vox brands. In aggregate, the combined portfolio now exceeds 25 titles.
PMC said the scale of the new group is substantial: the portfolio reaches hundreds of millions of people each month, produces more than 300 live events annually, and brings together a sizable advertising and data infrastructure, including Concert, Vox Media’s premium ad marketplace, and Forte, its first-party data platform.
The company also named Ryan Pauley, most recently president of Vox Media, as president of PMX. Pauley will be based in New York and report to Jay Penske, founder and chief executive officer of PMC, and Craig Perreault, PMC’s president. PMC said Pauley brings more than 15 years of editorial, commercial, and operational experience, and has helped drive brand-led growth across audience, subscriptions, podcasts, live events, and advertising products.
PMC further promoted Tom Finn, its executive vice president of strategy and operations, to chief operating officer of PMX. Ken Delalcazar, executive vice president of finance, will also take on the role of chief financial officer of PMX.
In announcing the deal, Jay Penske said he was proud to welcome the Vox team and described Pauley as a leader with a strong record in technology and media transformation. Perreault said the combined portfolio strengthens PMC’s content offering and expands the company’s live-event ambitions.
The acquisition underscores how aggressively major media companies are pursuing scale, audience depth, and diversified revenue at a moment when digital publishing continues to reward size, brand loyalty, and event-driven business models.
