“Ancestor”

An 18-foot-tall patinated bronze sculpture called The Ancestor can be seen at the southeast entrance to Central Park. The colossal piece of urban art depicts the universal mother figure, linking our cultural and personal past and future. It represents multiculturalism, pluralism, and interconnectedness. They show a sense of belonging and celebrate the Mother as the keeper of wisdom and the eternal source of creation and refuge.

 “Old Tree” at The Highline

One of the vibrant outdoor sculptures called “Old Tree” is now on view at the Highline. Find it at the intersection of 10th Avenue and 30th Street. It is expected to be there until the fall of 2024. This vibrant sculpture by Zurich-based artist Pamela Rosenkranz is the third High Line Plinth commission, which changes every 18 months.

 “PRANK”

Have a look at one of the giant outdoor sculptures called “PRANK”. It is now on display in City Hall Park in Manhattan’s financial district. Presented by the Public Art Fund, this collection is the latest series of large-scale freestanding sculptures by the late British artist Phyllida Barlow. The free public exhibition features seven new steel and fiberglass sculptures, the artist’s first series of outdoor sculptures made from durable materials.

“Kneeler”

Take a look at the bronze sculpture “Kneeler”, which evokes the spirit of harmony and optimism. The artwork, created by artist Joy Brown, combines two other sculptures in the Sewing District: Animal with a Rider and Two Together.

Look for sculptures in downtown Midtown on Broadway between 39th and 40th streets daily until August.

 Plastic water bottle chandeliers

On the Upper East Side you will find dazzling chandeliers. But this is not the usual decoration of fashionable apartments. These new chandelier sculptures next door are unlike any other. Artist Willie Cole recently unveiled four monumental chandeliers made from thousands of plastic water bottles to draw attention to single-use plastic.

The outdoor sculptures will be on display before the end of the year in the middle of Park Avenue between 69th and 70th streets.
