Sofy Gallery officially opened its space in Chelsea, Manhattan on April 11, 2026, introducing an international contemporary art project dedicated to building a sustained cultural dialogue between Italy and the United States.

Rather than a conventional opening, the event took the form of an experimental pre opening—both symbolic and operational—marking the beginning of a long-term curatorial and institutional process. On this occasion, the gallery presented its inaugural exhibition, Suspended Encounters, the first curatorial statement through which Sofy Gallery begins to define its identity within the New York art ecosystem.

The full 2026–2027 exhibition program will be publicly launched in Fall 2026.
The gallery emerges from a complex and carefully developed trajectory shaped by international procedures, structural delays, and logistical challenges, all addressed with strategic clarity and persistence. This process has defined Sofy Gallery as a space grounded in rigor and long-term vision, conceived not as a temporary project but as a permanent cultural presence in New York.

Located in Chelsea, one of the world’s most significant contemporary art districts, Sofy Gallery positions itself in direct dialogue with institutions, curators, collectors, and artists, operating as an independent platform dedicated to research and curatorial experimentation.
Suspended Encounters brings together artists across generations and geographies, creating a layered dialogue between historical references and contemporary practices. The exhibition combines traditional techniques such as oil painting with experimental approaches including graphite, charcoal, ceramics, and material-based surfaces. The result is a reflection on memory, identity, and perception across different artistic languages.

From April to September 2026, Sofy Gallery operates as an active cultural hub, hosting exhibitions, talks, workshops, and collaborative projects between European and American artists. This phase is dedicated to building relationships and developing the curatorial framework that will define the official program.
Alongside contemporary research, the gallery integrates elements of Italian cultural heritage, including Murano glass works and artist books produced on handmade Fabriano paper, establishing a tangible bridge between craftsmanship and contemporary artistic production.
Sofy Gallery’s mission is to support independent artistic research and foster a transatlantic cultural dialogue, positioning itself as a space where process, relationships, and vision converge.
April 11, 2026 marked the opening of a space. Fall 2026 will mark the launch of a program. In between, a vision is being built.
