Why We Like It: TEFAF Maastricht is recognized as one of the art world’s premier art and antiques fairs, bringing together international dealers and showcasing an incredible range of painting, sculpture, and design. Trinity Fine Art’s presentation will highlight the gallery’s strengths and feature exceptional European masterworks. Among the works to go on view will be a dazzling 14th-century gold-group panel painting, thewhich embodies the iconic style and techniques of the Renaissance. Arguably the of the presentation is a scholar’s portrait by Jacopo Robusti, more commonly known as Tintoretto. His composition’s sumptuous depiction of material, from the sitter’s fur-trimmed robe to the intricately transcribed tomb in his hands, is representative of Tintoretto’s acclaimed style. Trinity Fine Art will also present sculpture, including a historically important copy by Ferdinando Tacca of the Ferdinando I monument that is currently situated in Livorno, Italy. Together, the works on view provide a mesmerizing peek into the artistically rich world of Western art history.

According to the Gallery: “Trinity Fine Art is delighted to once again be joining other international dealers at TEFAF, the world’s leading art and antiques fair. For this edition, we are proud to present the exciting rediscovery of a hidden masterpiece by Tintoretto, painted in 1547—8. The master’s hand is unmistakable in the execution of this painting which is of the highest quality with jewel-like textural brushwork and an innovative handling of light.

We are also exhibiting a very rare gold-ground painting on panel dating from ca. 1350. The represents a key moment in Northern Italian painting and is of exceptional quality.

Ferdinando Tacca’s small-scale bronze reduction of the monument to Ferdinando I, which has been described as ‘arguably one of the most politically and socially charged public monuments in early modern Europe’ records the first recognizable portraits in the history of Western art and provides a unique instance of the naming of individual enslaved men represented on a public monument.”
