About Artelli: Artelli is an innovative platform—both on and offline—that bridges the traditional worlds of art and retail by working across industries to create exclusive art collaborations and to produce its signature curated projects. With its expansive space at the center of the Cotoi Strip in Macau, China, Artelli creates immersive and dynamic exhibitions and experiences for artists, art collectors, and enthusiasts alike. Its futuristic, two-and-a-half-story gallery—which boasts both intimate spaces as well as high-ceiling areas capable of accommodating ambitious, large-scale works—was inspired by fine art shipping crates. It was designed by Malherbe Paris. The art space works to both showcase a wide range of art and exhibitions, as well as to offer a unique setting where artists and arts supporters can discover new works and form organic relationships. Another highlight of Artelli is how it integrates technology within its spaces, with oversized video wall displays, 3D projections, and augmented reality (AR) interactive experiences.

What You Need to Know: Celebrating the launch of its new physical location in Macau, Artelli is currently presenting its grand opening exhibition, which features work by Satoru Koizumi and Joshua Vides. Both artists are unveiling new works: Koizumi’s Disney Collection and Vides’s Buzz Lightyear Collection. These sought-after collectible series are available exclusively through Artelli during the exhibition.

Vides is a Southern California-based graphic designer and visual artist, who has long been inspired by Street art and streetwear. He started his career by founding the successful streetwear brand CLSC, and in 2018 changed his course to pursue art. Since then, he has developed his own distinct artistic style of portraying everyday objects in black and white using pen and paper.

Japanese artist Koizumi studied at the Okinawa University of Arts, and as early as 2010, he completed his first series of hand-carved figures: children, with doleful eyes, donning costumes. His current Disney Collection again features children, but this time the figures are dressed as iconic characters from various Disney films.

Koizumi’s intriguing Disney-clad children, which recall the iconic playfulness of early collectible figures, are juxtaposed with Vides’ stark, reductive interpretations of the beloved Buzz Lightyear character from “Toy Story.”

Why We Like It: Art collectibles have experienced a massive surge in popularity over the past decade, with new collections and collaborations being snapped up almost as soon as they are released. Artelli is a boon to the greater art community because collectors can discover, follow, and experience art and artists both in person and online. Situated in Macau, it is primed to connect the brand’s singular vision with the international art scene. The two artists featured in Artelli’s inaugural exhibition offer an exciting preview of what is to come. Together, their work and show within Artelli’s modern and technologically advanced gallery allow collectors—both seasoned and novice—to explore new horizons in the world of contemporary art.
