Publishing company Thames & Hudson announced the release of the book Vincent van Gogh: A Life in Letters. It will include 76 letters from Vincent van Gogh.
All documents are printed in high resolution and are accompanied by notes and drawings by the artist himself. The letters are presented in chronological order. The publishers promise that the book will give a sense of the artist’s inner world.
Readers will learn about his warm feelings for his brother Theo, his difficult relationships with family, friends, mistresses, and other artists. In his letters, Vincent van Gogh describes his personal doubts and fears, his love of books, and his passion for art. A major exhibition is being prepared at the Vincent van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam to coincide with the book’s release. Some of the material from the new edition will be available live. The exhibition is scheduled to open in October 2020.
