Returning to its longstanding home at Fashion Industry Gallery (f.i.g.) with a refreshed and expanded floorplan, the Dallas Art Fair opens this month. Presenting 90 exhibitors hailing from 49 cities around the world—from Accra to Beijing—the 15th edition of the fair further establishes its place within the international art scene. Reflecting on the substantial and sustainable collector base the fair has fostered, 69 of the exhibitors are returning, with galleries worldwide recognizing the growing significance of the fair within the global art market.

With returning favorites, such as local Dallas gallery 12.26 as well as Night Gallery and The Hole from Los Angeles and New York respectively, alongside new exhibitors like Barcelona-based gallery Polígrafa Obra Gráficia and Alexander Berggruen from New York, the fair promises to feature an incredible breadth of modern and contemporary art and artists.

Of the forthcoming edition, Dallas Art Fair Director Kelly Cornell said, “This year, the Dallas Art Fair has expanded to include a record number of international galleries. We’re also emphasizing public art installations this year, with work by Rachel Hayes in Klyde Warren Park and work by Josh Callaghan and Carolyn Salas in the Art Park. This all serves our mission to introduce both the international art world and Dallas locals to the art in our city, as well as accommodate the booming art market in Dallas!”

Visitors to the fair should also be sure to visit “Talk of the Town: A Dallas Museum of Art Pop Up Exhibition,” which is on view at NorthPark Center in Dallas through April 30, 2023. Presented by the Dallas Museum of Art (DMA), Dallas Art Fair, and NorthPark Center, “Talk of the Town” is an original group exhibition that explores the diverse and multifaceted idea of womanhood through an artistic lens—but with a scope far exceeding that of traditional portraiture.

Curated by the DMA’s Hoffman Family Senior Curator of Contemporary Art Dr. Anna Katherine Brodbeck, the exhibition is comprised of works acquired by the DMA via the Dallas Art Fair Foundation Acquisition Program; the program, established in 2016, seeks to bolster the local Dallas arts community by providing funds for the DMA to acquire contemporary works directly from the fair. “We were so pleased by the acquisition of these works by the DMA, which helped elevate these emerging artists. Now, we’re so excited for ‘Talk of the Town’ to further the visibility of their work. NorthPark Center is the perfect venue for this exhibition, due to its unparalleled art collection and public accessibility,” said Cornell.

Based in the downtown Arts District of Dallas and with a mission of creating meaningful engagement and conversation between the city and the greater art world, the Dallas Art Fair has become a cornerstone of the region’s art scene. The 2023 iteration of the fair is expected to be the most expansive in theme and scope to date, furthering its mission and impact both locally and abroad.
