Collector and pop superstar Madonna has (thankfully) bounced back after being rushed to hospital last month with a bacterial infection (the Material Girl ended up in intensive care suffering from a “serious bacterial infection”). The Queen of Pop thanked fans on a recent Instagram post, sharing an image of herself holding a framed Polaroid pic. This get-well-soon gift proved a tonic, evoking her 1980s New York period when she mingled with art world royalty, dating artist Jean-Michel Basquiat.
“If you zoom into this picture I am holding You will see A Polaroid taken by Andy Warhol of Keith Haring wearing a jacket with Michael Jackson’s face painted on it. A perfect triangle of Brilliance. Artist who touched so many lives including my own,” Madonna said. “I sobbed when I opened this gift because I realised how lucky I am to be alive. And how fortunate I am to have known these people and so many others who are also gone.” Art is often the best medicine it seems (especially for Madge).
