Wet Paint in the Wild: Indie Icons The Kills Stage Their Big Comeback at Photographer Steven Sebring’s New York Studio

Indie sleaze has been revived, have you heard? And one of indie rock’s seminal bands, The Kills, are staging their comeback in a big way: hosting pop-up shows in unexpected places, like L.A.’s notorious Viper Room, and in art studios across New York City.

When I heard they’d be performing at photographer Steven Sebring’s studio in New York, I thought it might be a pleasing little departure for Wet Paint in the Wild to see the art world from a new perspective. Take it away, Jamie Hince and Alison Mosshart of The Kills!

Our dear friend, artist Brad Khalhamer, with two stylish bodyguards, Anastasia and Camilla.

Summertime in New York and all of our photographer friends have broken their ankles. So many boots! Bob and Elizabeth Gruen brave the heat to come hang out with us.

Nur Khan, photographer Sante D’orazio, his son Nick D’orazio, and friend, Kami.

Steven Sebring, the ultimate ZOMBIE DESTROYER, in his studio in the music room. The host with
the most.

Nicci Hunter, Kate Lanphear, and Savannah Yarborough arrive in good spirits after finding a bar
around the corner on the way to the event. Dressed to kill in 96-degree weather. Love you girls.

Dearest friend and photographer Myles Hendrik, in a camera duel at the Viper Room.

Dearest friend and artist Danny Minnick with Jamie Hince in matching L.A. Hex t-shirts.

Alison and her sweet pal, musician Marlon Sexton. Marlon was in town recording with his band The Shooks and stopped by to say hi!

Filmmakers Anthony Hines and Andrew Theodore Balasia meet for the first time and chat the
night away. Andrew was responsible for our beautiful New York and L.A. Hex videos.

Stick-n-poke party after the after party.
