(Almost) everyone seems to love pop superstar Harry Styles, who swept the board at the Brit Awards last month, winning four prizes. The UK artist Peter Doig is also a fan, posting an image on Instagram of his work Alpinist (2019-22), which depicts a skier wearing a harlequin costume that is remarkably similar to the one worn by Styles at the Grammys in February, where he also won three awards.
Alpinist is currently on display at the Courtauld Gallery in London (until 29 May), but in a cheeky twist, Doig posted a new image on his Instagram feed showing Styles in his harlequin onesie superimposed against a mountain peak. The Brazilian artist Vik Muniz especially liked Doig’s Styles makeover, while another contributor commented that he was “getting Picasso Rose period vibes” from the Harry pic. Perhaps Doig will give other pop stars an arty makeover—Lady Gaga in a canoe?
