Marishka Karta balances on the border between reality and the dream, and therefore, her works have a fabulous and, often, surreal atmosphere.
Mariska Karto – photographer, digital and classical figurative artist. Born in Suriname, South America (her parents by Hungarian nationality), grew up and was educated in Holland. Currently, Marishka Karto lives and works in Delft, the Netherlands.
She creates works based on classical visual art. Marishka has a special spiritual connection with the classical art of Venice. The influence of Venice is reflected in her mystical, celestial, dark and dreamy photo-paintings, inspired by events from her own life.
Marishka Karta balances on the border between reality and the dream, and therefore, the works existing in this dimension have a clear fairy-tale and, often, surreal atmosphere.
Marishka is inspired by dark moments of life, melancholy, love, loss, anger, vulnerability and loneliness, combined with delicacy, calmness, anxiety, symbolism and sensuality.
In her pictures, she tells a story. Not the History of one person, but the history of our whole world. The history of the old world and the new world, mixed together.
