Flavia Nespatti to Open Antesala, a London Gallery Focused on Latin American Art
Brazilian-born, London-based collector and patron Flavia Nespatti will open Antesala in London this October, adding a new commercial space to Fitzrovia with a program centered on Latin American art. Housed in a mid-century industrial building, the gallery is being conceived not simply as a sales room, but as a place where exhibitions, conversation, and collecting can overlap.
Antesala will organize selling exhibitions of both primary and secondary market works, collaborating with galleries, artists, estates, collections, publications, and nonprofits. The gallery also plans talks, screenings, and other public programming, extending its role beyond the transaction into the realm of cultural exchange.
Nespatti has been clear about the model. Antesala is not a nonprofit, and it is not a rental space. Instead, she described it as a commercial project that must sustain itself financially. She and her team will remain closely involved in the decisions behind each exhibition, while collaborators will be charged a mix of flat fees and sales commissions.
The gallery will also offer curatorial and strategic advisory services for collections, with fees varying according to client needs. Co-running the space is Laura González, who previously headed the Latin American department at Phillips in New York.
Antesala’s first exhibition, “Assembly Lines,” will open on October 10 and will feature drawings from Latin America. In a London market crowded with questions about scale, cost, and purpose, the new gallery arrives with a defined identity: commercially minded, regionally focused, and built to operate as both platform and proposition.
