MacDougall’s Russian Art Auction went extremely well on Thursday, 10 June.  The specialist Russian Art auction house sold £4.4 m, including practically all top lots. At £645,000 Bulatov’s 2007 masterpiece “The Vault of Heaven” was the most expensive work in the contemporary sector across four auction houses in London’s Russian Week.  MacDougall’s outsold Christies (£3.1m) in Russian paintings by nearly 50%, confirming its major place in the market.  Most lots went to first time buyers, and over the internet.

Catherine MacDougall commented: “The market has recovered after the pandemic and there is strong interest across all sectors of Russian art.”
